Over time, gamers will probably look back at this joystick as the best one they ever had, and in many ways it is a piece of Engineering art that not only looks good but works well. After using this joystick for a year, I put all the other ones I had aside, because this is now my main one that I use all the time. One of the nicer design aspects of this joystick is that it could be taken apart and cleaned. SideWinder Force Feedback 2 is the ultimate joystick for those who demand the best. As well as the general service and lubrication, I cleaned the motors, and replaced the SMD switches with modern high-end ones. I managed to find a pre-used unit that I took apart for servicing and repair and after I was done it was as good as new. I paid good money for this fantastic joystick and there is nothing wrong with it hardware wise. (Product ID: 9875070-00000) I always loved playing flight sim with it as well as Mech Warrior 2 back in the day. It is also a very unique design because modern joystick designs have increasingly relied on potentiometer sensors therefore to have optical sensor technology together with force feedback is a real treat. I still have my MS SideWinder Force Feedback Pro from MS Flight Sim 98 Days. Very few joysticks have optical sensors, and therefore this particular one is advanced to say the least. They may or may not work with FS Force when running recent versions of Windows, due to driver unavailability. The sidewinder force feedback pro was a wonderful bit of mechanical and electronic engineering that was ahead of its time.
